Fundraising & Events Coordinator

We are looking for a passionate, and outgoing individual to organize and execute our fundraisers and events. This position is key to our organization in terms of closing our budget gap, and allowing us to continue serving the community with low-cost and free programming.

The position has flexible hours, curated to your schedule as this is a contract position. The hourly requirement will change with how many events and fundraisers are scheduled.

Ideally the candidate will be an established resident of Gilroy, Spanish-speaking, with a rich background of non-profit fundraising and event planning.

Art Instructor

We are looking for motivated, self-starting instructors who can create their own classes, including lesson plans, for weekly or monthly classes for adults or youth.

  • Flexible Schedule: Schedule the classes based on your availability

  • Preferred Audience: Only teach classes to your preferred audience, and to your strengths

  • Class Materials are reimbursed*

Compensation is $27/hr, plus materials paid as an independent contractor.*Budget for class must be submitted before schedule.

Board Member & Fundraising Chair

6th Street Studios & Art Center is searching for our next Fundraising Board Member. This Board Member position is integral to the mission of 6th Street Studios & Art Center to create an affordable, and accessible avenue to Art for everyone in our community. Fundraising is more important than ever with the rising cost of rent in downtown Gilroy.

Board members are required to attend our board meetings that take place every 6 weeks, along with any special sub-committee meetings that are a part of. Board members agree to commit 5 volunteer hours a month, not including Board Member meetings.

Docent

6th Street Studios & Art Center is a volunteer based organization that needs help from the community to be open on the weekend for the public to see our exhibitions! Be a docent for the Studios and talk to the public about our monthly art exhibitions. Open hours are Saturday 1-5pm, and Sunday 11-3.

Want to do more? Help us with our monthly exhibitions! We need help installing, promoting, and writing about each exhibition.

Internship Positions

6th Street Studios and Art Center is a nonprofit organization that offers affordable resources to local artists in the South Bay, San Benito County and Watsonville areas. We are looking for interns to help us with fundraising, marketing and operations. We are a purely volunteer based organization, and are looking for people who are passionate about art and providing resources to local artists, specifically marginalized artists who make up a large part of our community's demographic. This is a fantastic opportunity for High School or College level students who are looking for experience, and to give back to their community.

Operations Intern:
-Organizing and scheduling volunteers for events
- Work with the director on exhibition set up and logistics
- Work with Fundraiser and Marketing interns on promoting general operations.

Fundraising Intern:
- Run logistics on our events
- Work with founder on future fundraising ideas and events.
- Assist in grant writing
- Engagement with local businesses for donations and other fundraising techniques.

Education Intern:
-Work closely with our Director in building our educational department from the ground up.
- Working with fundraising and operations intern on logistics of the educational program
- Supervising initial classes
- Assist in future operations on the educational program.

This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with artists, and the community, while making a difference for those who wouldn't normally be able to participate or felt art was inaccessible. Hours are flexible and can be partly remote. Length of internship is 3-6 months, 5-10hrs a week.
