6th Street Studios & Art Center (The Studios,) began as the community outreach and performance arm of Gallery 1202 in the end of 2019. Founder, Emily McEwan-Upright, organized culturally significant performances like Flamenco, Latin Dance, Jazz, and Choir to be affordable and accessible to the local community, along with hosting holiday boutiques and fair booths for local artists. In 2021, McEwan-Upright found a permanent location for the organization and officially formed 6th Street Studios & Art Center at 64 W. 6th Street in downtown Gilroy.
The Studios supports local artists and arts education of the South Valley region of Silicon Valley by providing affordable access to creative spaces, art classes, art instructional opportunities, and cultural activities. The Studios fills a cultural gap in the region by providing the community with a safe and inclusive place of self-expression, to create inspiring and transformational art experiences.
We offer employment opportunities through our Education, and Youth Mentorship Programs, as well as a myriad of volunteer opportunities.
Our Hours of Operations are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9-2pm.
